Suzanne Hendrix made her Metropolitan debut as Setepenre in Philip Glass's Akhnaten, and as a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble sang a Flowermaiden in Parsifal and Larina in Eugene Onegin. Wagner accounts for much of her stage life — Schwertleite, Waltraute, Grimgerde, Erda, the First Norn, Mary in Der fliegende Holländer — and Verdi and Puccini for a good deal of the rest: Azucena, Fenena, Suzuki, Zita, the Princess in Suor Angelica. She has appeared at Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Oper Frankfurt, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Seattle Opera and Santa Fe, and in Wichita Grand Opera's William Tell in 2014 alongside Lucas Meachem, Michael Spyres and William Powers. Her concert work runs from the Verdi and Duruflé Requiems to Messiah and Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb. Awards from the Gerda Lissner, George London and Sullivan foundations and from the Wagner Society of New York mark the early career; she studied at the University of Northern Iowa and the UMKC Conservatory, and teaches voice and vocology at Northern Iowa.
