The Fourth Symphony of Philippe Chamouard dates from 2001 but was first heard only on 16 November 2017, when the Plovdiv Philharmonic played it in the city's Auditorium. Chamouard, born in France in 1952, gave each of the four movements a title, ending with the one that names the whole work: the wanderer among the clouds. He described the sequence as the essential stages in the life of an inspired man moving from material concerns towards metaphysical reflection. Indesens recorded it in Plovdiv two days after the premiere and released it in 2018.
