Lazy is the fifth track of Machine Head, recorded in December 1971 at the Grand Hotel in Montreux on the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio after a fire had destroyed the casino the band had booked. It opens with a long unaccompanied Hammond organ solo by Jon Lord over a blues shuffle, and adds a harmonica part from Ian Gillan, rare in the band's output. At around seven minutes it is the album's slowest-burning piece, closer to a jam than to the constructed riff songs around it.
