Scherzo for accordion
- Композитор
- John Gart
John Gart was born Zan Gartalewitz in Grodno in 1905 and reached New York with his family in 1922; he took up the piano accordion in 1931, after years as a theatre organist, and was among the founders of the American Accordionists Association in 1938. The Scherzo belongs to the group of concert pieces he wrote to give the instrument a repertoire beyond dance music, and it has stayed in accordion competitions and examination syllabuses ever since. Gart spent the 1950s and 1960s as a television composer and music director.
