Cantadora's Lament

Leitner's compositions for flute, harp and orchestra were recorded in a series of albums beginning with Earthmagic in 2009 and continuing with Skymagic in 2013 and Firemagic in 2015; Cantadora's Lament comes from that group and is documented by a single recording. The title refers to the cantadora, the woman storyteller of Latin American tradition. Leitner writes for herself as soloist, keeping the flute line in the foreground with the harp as its constant partner and the orchestra used sparingly. No score, dedication or first performance has been traced.
