Carousel du Montmartre is one of the pieces Karin Leitner wrote for her own instrument and recorded with harp and orchestra. Leitner was born in Vienna in 1972 and studied flute at the city's University of Music and Performing Arts with Wolfgang Schulz, principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic, before further study in Freiburg with Robert Aitken. The title points to the fairground carousels of the Paris hill, and the piece is written in the picture-postcard manner that runs through much of her output. Its date of composition is not documented.
