Imagine

Imagine was recorded in May 1971 at Ascot Sound Studios, the home studio Lennon had built at Tittenhurst Park, and released as the title track of an album that September. The words draw on Yoko Ono's book Grapefruit, a collection of instruction poems, and Lennon later said she should have been credited as co-author; the National Music Publishers Association added her name in 2017. The song was issued as a single in the United States in 1971 but not in Britain until 1975. Its accompaniment is a piano figure of four chords.
