The Sofia Philharmonic's register lists this work of Tekeliev as a symphonic suite, not as a set of pieces for smaller forces. Its title, borrowed from the birthday song, points to the vein of light orchestral writing that runs beside the serious side of his catalogue — the ballet, the string symphonies, the Requiem — and that a composer who spent five years as an editor at Bulgarian National Radio had constant occasion to cultivate. Tekeliev was born in Svilengrad in 1942 and studied with Veselin Stoyanov.
