With orchestral sonorities enriched by Chinese instruments and harmonies (conductor: Nayden Todorov) and an opulent design, the ensemble transports the audience to China… The enormous wealth of timbres of this opera, its floating harmonies and veiled rhythms, are well mastered by the large orchestra. … All in all, it is a successful evening of opera, holding its audience for two and a half hours.
