The building sits on the seafront promenade at Águilas, facing the Playa de las Delicias, on land the regional government handed over in 2004. Barozzi Veiga won the competition that December, and the auditorium opened on 22 March 2011 with a concert by the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra. Its main hall holds 705 — 415 in the stalls, the rest in two boxes — over a 275-square-metre stage with an orchestra pit; a second room takes 300 and a third 150, for congresses as much as concerts.
