The Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing Arts opened at Clemson University in 1994 and was dedicated on 15 April that year. Its creation followed almost two decades of planning, fundraising and construction. Named for the university benefactor Robert Howell Brooks, the complex brings professional touring performances into the same environment as undergraduate training. A 979-seat proscenium auditorium accommodates music, dance and theatre, while a smaller black-box theatre and recital space support student productions and teaching. The university’s Department of Performing Arts is based here, allowing students to combine academic study with practical experience in performance, production and arts presentation.
