The postal address reads simply University, Mississippi — the state university's campus at Oxford has its own name on the map. The Gertrude C. Ford Center opened there in 2003, funded by the foundation whose name it carries, with a proscenium stage sized for opera and ballet as well as for concerts. It has served since as the performing arts house for the northern half of the state, receiving touring opera, orchestras and Broadway productions alongside the university's own music and theatre work, and it marked twenty years of that programming in 2023.
