Gloria-Theater

Built as a cinema in 1959 to Albert Ruf's design and opened that November, the Gloria has outlived its original purpose twice over. The town took the building on in the 1960s; audiences for film fell away in the 1970s, and a subscription series of operetta and drama kept the doors open. In 2005 it was listed as a characteristic example of 1950s architecture. Since 2007 it has run as a musical and touring house, with orchestra pit, raked seating and balcony, taking in concerts, dance, comedy and readings.
