The Haas Center for the Arts on the Bloomsburg campus opened in 1967. Its principal auditorium was named Mitrani Hall after a 1981 gift from Marco and Louise Mitrani funded acoustic improvements. Renovation in 1996 renewed the auditorium, while work in 2008 improved classrooms, studios, workshops and gallery space; the sound system was replaced in 2018. The building brings public performance together with university teaching in music, theatre and dance. A six-million-dollar gift from Steph and Allie Pettit supported further renewal and scholarships, and the centre was renamed in their honour in 2026. The gallery retains the name of Francis B. Haas. Mitrani Hall, the auditorium at the heart of the Haas Center on the Bloomsburg campus, seats 1,858 after successive renovations in 1996, 2008 and 2018. The building carries the university's teaching in music, theatre and dance — classrooms, studios, a scene shop and a gallery for the art department — while the hall itself takes campus performance groups, academic and lecture presentations and the touring Arts in Bloom series. Bloomsburg is now part of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania.
