Kongress am Park in Augsburg opened on 17 June 1972 as the Kongresshalle. Designed by Max Speidel beside Wittelsbacher Park, it is an example of post-war architecture using exposed concrete and sculptural structural forms. A restoration completed in 2012 recovered features of the original design and introduced the present name. The work was undertaken by Schuller + Tham. Interior furnishings include Verner Panton's Pantonova seating, designed in 1971, which forms part of the building's preserved period character. The complex accommodates concerts, congresses and other public events, combining large assembly spaces with the original architectural relationship between the interior and the surrounding park.
