Coburg’s Kongresshaus Rosengarten opened in 1962 as part of an effort to develop the city as a conference destination. Its construction reshaped the northern edge of the Rosengarten and followed prolonged public debate over the use of the park. An extensive reconstruction in the late 1980s made the complex more flexible, adding conference rooms and reorganising its public spaces. The building combines cultural programming with congresses, exhibitions and other events, linking the city’s performance calendar with its role as a meeting place for the surrounding region. At the northern edge of Coburg's rose garden, on Berliner Platz, the town's congress house opened in 1962 and was substantially reworked by Hans-Busso von Busse for a second opening in 1987. Its main hall holds up to 983. Alongside the Landestheater it carries much of Coburg's public entertainment, from cabaret to touring music, and vocal galas including Die Nacht der 5 Tenöre have been staged there.
