Opera House Burgas

Burgas has staged opera since 1955, when a Traviata was put on with local singers and chorus, but the company moved into this house only on 22 May 1983, opening it with Verdi's Otello. The auditorium holds over 750 and the stage carries a revolving disc. Since 2000 the building has served the Burgas Opera and Philharmonic Society, which joined the opera — a state institute since 1972 — to the state philharmonic, so the same calendar carries staged Verdi and Puccini and symphony evenings. It is a separate room from the town's concert hall.
