Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga

The Málaga Philharmonic gave its inaugural concert on 14 February 1991 as the Orquesta Ciudad de Málaga, established jointly by the city council and the Andalusian regional government. Its principal conductors have included Octav Calleya, Odón Alonso, Alexander Rahbari and Aldo Ceccato. Alongside its symphonic subscription season, the orchestra developed chamber concerts, recordings and La Filarmónica frente al mar, a series intended to reach new audiences and introduce young artists. Its educational work includes the Joven Orquesta Barroca de Andalucía, founded in 2010. SGAE recognised its contribution to contemporary Spanish music with a special award in 2007.
