Poly Theatre

One of the many houses run under the Poly name across China, the Shenzhen theatre serves a city that built its cultural infrastructure at much the speed it built everything else. Touring opera, ballet, symphonic concerts and large-scale film-music evenings share its calendar; the Star Wars scores have been played there to picture. Shenzhen Poly Theatre was completed in 2007 in the city's Nanshan district. Located near Houhai, the building occupies approximately 15,000 square metres. Its space-frame structure places it among the modern large-span performance buildings documented by the University of Fukui's architectural research archive.
