The auditorium in Preston Hall at Radford University, Virginia, is known as the Ken Bondurant Auditorium. With 1,500 seats, it is the university's largest performance venue and accommodates large campus events. Stage rigging, lighting, sound and projection facilities support its theatrical and concert use. Its musical equipment includes a Steinway concert grand piano and a 54-rank pipe organ, placing it among the performance spaces used by the university's music department. Radford University sits in the New River valley of south-western Virginia, and Preston Auditorium is among the rooms it uses for public performance — convocations, lectures, student concerts, and touring opera when a company comes through the region. Puccini's Turandot, a score that tests any room's tolerance for sheer volume, has been given there.
