The Stadthalle Altenkirchen was a municipal events venue on Quengelstraße in Altenkirchen, Westerwald. Inaugurated on 14 April 1984, it replaced an earlier hall opened on the same site in 1924. For more than thirty-seven years it accommodated cultural programmes and public gatherings. The building also contained cinemas and recreational facilities in its lower levels; the cinemas closed in 2011 and the beer room and bowling alleys in 2012. The main hall closed on 31 July 2021 after asbestos in the ventilation system and wider renovation requirements made continued operation impracticable. Subsequent civic discussions considered refurbishment or a replacement venue. Altenkirchen keeps its events hall on Quengelstraße, above a foyer reached by stairs or lift: 551 people in rows, 426 at tables, in a room a movable partition can cut in two. The town owns and lets it, for concerts, trade functions, club evenings and family celebrations; the stage carries a lighting rig and a hoist for backdrops, with dressing rooms behind. Touring orchestras take the room in winter — the Plovdiv symphony played there in January 2014.
