The Willi-Zinnkann-Halle is Büdingen’s civic event venue, named after a former mayor of the town. It developed from the earlier Bürgerhaus and was remodelled at the beginning of the twenty-first century; the municipality records its inauguration with the new town administration and library in 2002. A large hall with a stage can be connected to a smaller hall, while a club room accommodates more intimate gatherings. Concerts, readings, cabaret, public meetings and private celebrations form part of its use. Büdingen, a Hessian town whose medieval wall and castle survive largely intact, keeps its main hall for the everyday business of civic life — sport and school use, carnival, balls and receptions — and for the touring entertainments that reach towns of its size. Gala evenings of operatic favourites, sung by visiting tenors to orchestral accompaniment, belong to that circuit and have been heard here.
