Zhongshan Arts Centre

Sun Yat-sen — Sun Zhongshan in Mandarin — was born at Cuiheng, a village inside what is now the city's boundary, and the county took his name after his death in 1925. The Arts Centre is the principal auditorium of that Pearl River Delta city, a short journey from Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Macau, and its stage carries symphonic and choral concerts, Cantonese opera, dance and touring stage productions. Visiting orchestras appear there most often in the weeks around the New Year, when concert-giving across the delta is at its busiest.
