Tenor
Biography
Alongside his musical training at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, Cristiano Olivieri studied literature, philosophy and theology; he took his singing diploma there and worked afterwards with Alfredo Kraus and Giorgio Zancanaro. His debut came as Alfredo in La traviata at the Teatro Masini in Faenza in 1995, and the lyric and spinto roles of Verdi, Puccini and Donizetti have followed — Cavaradossi in Tosca among them — in Italian and international theatres and festivals. From 2007 he appeared in the German touring series The Night of the Five Tenors, singing with the Plovdiver Symphoniker beside Vincenzo Sanso, Orfeo Zanetti, Luigi Frattola and the soprano Andrea Hörkens. Calaf and Radamès stand with Cavaradossi among his leading parts, and he has worked under conductors including Riccardo Muti, James Conlon and Gianandrea Noseda, and with directors including Robert Carsen and Franco Zeffirelli.
