Mezzo-soprano
Biography
Prizes at Dobrich and Sofia stand early in Daniela Djakova's record — first at the Hopes, Talents, Masters competition and at the Young Opera Singers competition, with further awards from the Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin and Tsvetana Djakovich competitions. Born in Sliven, she read opera singing at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music with Konstantsa Vachkova, Rusko Ruskov and Hristina Angelakova, and went on to masterclasses with Luca Gorla at the Scuola Civica in Milan and with Sergio Segalini at the Accademia d'Arte Lirica in Osimo. Azucena in Il trovatore, Amneris in Aida, Carmen and Rosina in The Barber of Seville are among her roles, with guest appearances with the Sofia National Opera and the state operas of Varna, Burgas and Stara Zagora, and on tours through Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, China, Taiwan and Japan. Between 2004 and 2016 she was artistic director of the Sliven Symphony Orchestra. Princess Eboli in Don Carlo and Adalgisa in Norma belong to the same list of roles, and in 2016 she became a soloist of the Stara Zagora Opera. She first sang Carmen in Rousse in 2007, conducted by Nayden Todorov.
