Soprano
Biography
Daniela Karaivanova was born in Pazardzhik in 1981 into a family of operetta and drama players, finished the Georgi Bregov school there in 1998 and took her degree at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in 2003, in the class of Maria Belcheva, giving many concerts in those years with the Opera and Philharmonic Society of Pazardzhik. A masterclass with the conductor Paul Weigold at the Vienna Staatsoper followed in 2003, and a CEE Musiktheater scholarship under the Staatsoper's patronage came for the 2006-07 season, around the time she joined the State Opera Rousse as a soloist. Her repertory includes Violetta in La traviata, Gilda in Rigoletto, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Susanna, Rosina, Despina, Papagena and Adele - and extends into operetta with Stasi in The Csardas Princess. She sang in the Spring Voices concert at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and at the Classic Open Air festival in Solothurn in 2008 and 2009, and her work at Rousse has included the company's staged productions, chamber concerts and schools work. Nayden Todorov directed the Rousse company throughout her first decade there. At the State Opera Rousse she sang Jemmy, Tell's son, in Guillaume Tell, her second production with the director Gian Gianotti, who cast her after their work together on Le nozze di Figaro. Pamina and Norina belong to the same repertory, and her work with the Rousse house has taken in chamber concerts and educational projects alongside the staged productions.
