Evgeny Arabadjiev

Named artist of the year by Opera Plovdiv for 2023, for his Gomez Addams in the musical The Addams Family, the bass Evgeny Arabadjiev trained at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv and has sung with the city's company since 2003. In 2004 and 2005 he crossed the United States twice with the touring productions of Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci and La bohème, playing theatres and university arts centres in Portsmouth, Utica, State College, New Haven and Columbia. He has also appeared with the State Opera Rousse and other Bulgarian houses. He joined the Plovdiv opera in 2003, the year after finishing his studies at the academy there. His work with Opera Plovdiv runs across opera, operetta and musical theatre: The Barber of Seville, where the company lists him as Doctor Bartolo, Don Giovanni, Tosca, Mozart and Salieri, Jesus Christ Superstar. He had also received the Artist of the Year award for 2021, presented in December at the premiere of Ball at the Savoy, in which he sang Mustafa Bey.
