Soprano
Biography
Across the opera houses of Bulgaria — Varna, Rousse, Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo — Galina Stoyanova has sung soprano roles from the early 2000s onward, appearing in Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, La bohème, Madama Butterfly and Attila, and in concert and gala programmes alongside them. Born in Varna, she began her professional training at the Dobri Hristov National School of Arts in that city, graduating with distinction in classical singing under the vocal teacher Maria Rokas, and completed her studies at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in the class of Konstanza Vachkova. Masterclasses with Raina Kabaivanska, Ghena Dimitrova, Margarita Lilova, Luciana d'Intino and Roberto Scandiuzzi followed, and after a worldwide preliminary selection she was invited by Placido Domingo to take part in the Operalia competition for young opera singers. She made her debut as Donna Anna at the Sofia Opera and has appeared at festivals in Spain, Italy, Switzerland and the United States. Her roles include Donna Anna, Donna Elvira, Countess Rosina, Mimi, Butterfly, Tosca, Nedda, Odabella, Elisabetta, Leonora, Amelia, Desdemona and Aida. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the National Academy of Music in 2002 and 2003, and earned a second master’s degree in preschool and primary education at Shumen University in 2012.
