Tenor · Piano
Biography
Two callings run side by side in the working life of Georgios Filadelfefs: he is a tenor and a pianist. Since 2002 he has given concert programmes with the pianist Valentina Vassileva, and from 2010 he has toured with Die Himmlische Nacht der Tenöre, singing arias, songs and canzonettas with piano or with chamber orchestra. On stage his roles have included Alfred in Die Fledermaus and the four servants of Les contes d'Hoffmann, and he has appeared in productions connected with the State Opera Rousse and with the March Music Days festival in Ruse. Poulenc's La voix humaine at the Sfumato Theatre in Sofia is also among his credits. His first appearance with the Rousse company was in Gian Gianotti's staging of Don Pasquale, which the theatre later took on tour to Switzerland. He also performs a one-man show, Mediterraneo, in which he acts as well as sings and plays. Born in Athens in 1979, he read both piano and opera singing at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, and made his operatic debut as Cavaradossi; Ernesto, Turiddu, Canio and Prince Shuisky followed with Bulgarian companies. As a pianist he has played the concertos of Mozart, Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
