Kaltrina Miftari

First heard as a child at the Akordet e Kosovës festival, Kaltrina Miftari has made her career inside Kosovo's own institutions: she sings in the chorus of the Kosovo Philharmonic and regularly as its soloist, and her name recurs at ReMusica, Chopin Piano Fest, DAM and Kamerfest. She sang in the gala that marked the founding of the Kosovo Opera in 2021 and took a solo part in La traviata the following year; in 2023 she was at the Berlin Philharmonie in music by Ēriks Ešenvalds. She works too with the ReMusica Vocal Ensemble and with Dardanicum Cantori. Her repertoire is centred on the baroque and the renaissance and reaches through the romantics to living composers. With the countertenor Safet Berisha she has built a standing partnership - Dowland with the guitar of Florin Fanaj, and programmes running from Bach and Pergolesi to Albanian folk melody with the guitarist Drilon Cocaj. She studied vocal performance with Merita Juniku in Prishtina. She has also taken a vocal masterclass with Dario Russo at the Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival.
