Recife-born and trained on two continents, Maecio Gomes read law before taking his musical studies at the University of São Paulo and completing his vocal training at the Conservatorio Antonio Buzzolla in Adria. The Italian-Brazilian tenor's repertoire includes Manrico, Radamès, Cavaradossi, Turiddu, Pinkerton, Ismaele — sung in houses and touring productions across Europe and beyond, and the title role in Otello. He sang Manrico in Il trovatore at the State Opera Rousse in April 2012 and returned to the company the following summer for an open-air gala in the Piazza del Foro Romano at Oderzo.
