Tenor
Biography
In June 2013 Peter Kostov sang the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at the Rythalle in Solothurn, on one of the Swiss tours that have long been part of the State Opera Rousse season. A tenor of that company, he has also taken on Shostakovich's Katerina Izmailova, a very different discipline from the Verdi lyric parts, and has appeared in gala programmes in Bulgaria and Italy. Born in Yambol in 1979, he took his master's degree at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in 2003 in the class of Asen Selimski, then held a scholarship at the Boris Christoff Academy in Rome, working on the bel canto style with Antonio Boyer and Mirella Parutto; a further period of study in Rome followed in 2006 at the invitation of Bruno Cagli, and he completed it with the operetta tenor Aron Aronov. His debut at State Opera Rousse came in April 2006 as Alfredo in La traviata, and from 2008 he was a soloist of State Opera Burgas as well. He made his international debut in 2011 on the Rousse company's Spanish tour of La traviata, sang Verdi's Requiem and Cassio in France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands in 2012, and Beethoven's Ninth in Tokyo.
