Snejana Dramcheva

Rosina, Blonde, Despina, Musetta, Gilda: the list is that of a light, agile soprano, and it belongs to a singer who reached the opera stage by way of the concert platform. Dramcheva completed her studies in Plovdiv in 1984, in Ivanka Mihailova's vocal class, and later graduated in classical singing from the State Music Academy in Sofia under Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva. Her debut came in that same year of 1984, as soloist with the Plovdiv Philharmonic under Dobrin Petkov; six years passed before her first opera appearance, at Sliven in 1990 with the student opera theatre of the Pancho Vladigerov Academy, and from 1991 she began to tour in Europe. She has sung as a soloist of the Sofia National Opera, where Olga in Giordano's Fedora sits a little apart from the rest of her repertoire. In July 1999 she recorded Mozart Soprano Arias, Volume II with the Plovdiv Philharmonic under Nayden Todorov, with whom she went on working over the two decades that followed. Dramtcheva appeared as a soprano soloist at the Thracia Summer Music Festival in Plovdiv in 1999.
