Sofia Ivanova

Touring took Sofia Ivanova across North America in 2004 and 2005 with Bulgarian companies, in a repertoire of La bohème, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Aida and Carmen that she also sang at home. In Plovdiv in 2002 she appeared on a gala bill with the bass Nicola Ghiuselev. She took her degree at the State Academy of Music in Sofia, specialising in opera singing, and has sung in Germany, Poland, Russia, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and Spain. Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, sung at the Mozart festival in Madrid in 1999, counts among her larger successes, and Violetta, Mimi, Desdemona, Micaela and Tatyana are the roles she names as her own.
