Left Outside Alone

Left Outside Alone was the lead single from Anastacia, the self-titled third album issued in March 2004, and the first music she released after treatment for breast cancer the previous year. She wrote it with Glen Ballard and Dallas Austin. The song moves from a hushed, half-spoken verse over strings into a full rock chorus, a contrast that shapes much of the record. It reached number one in Italy, Austria and Switzerland and stayed on European charts through most of that year. Symphonic arrangements of it have since become a fixture of her concert programmes with orchestra.
