Colin Currie gave the first performance at the Royal Festival Hall on 25 March 2022, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Ludwig Wicki; the LPO and the Soka Performing Arts Center had commissioned the score jointly, and the American premiere followed at Soka University a month later. Its four movements are called Triangle, D.S.C.H., Down and Syncopated, the second built on Shostakovich's musical signature. The soloist moves between roughly a dozen instruments, among them an assortment of pots and pans and a metal contraption of Elfman's own devising, with five orchestral percussionists behind him.
