Five Sketches
- Composer
- Marin Goleminov
Five Sketches belongs to the chamber side of Marin Goleminov's output and is written for string quartet, the medium he returned to throughout his life: eight quartets in all, beginning with the one he submitted as his diploma at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, and which Paul Le Flem said he wished he had written himself. The sketches are short character pieces built on the asymmetric metres of Bulgarian dance, handled with the French clarity of texture Goleminov brought back from his studies. A string orchestra version also circulates.
