- Genre

- G minor
- Opus
- HWV 287
The G minor oboe concerto known as Handel's third was first published in Leipzig in 1863, more than a century after his death, from a manuscript in Breitkopf's possession, and its authenticity has been questioned ever since; no source in Handel's hand survives. The music is assembled from material that also appears elsewhere in his output, which was normal practice for him but is also easy to imitate. Whatever its origin, it has become the most played oboe concerto of the Baroque, in four short movements on the pattern of a church sonata.
