Sofia Impressions

Sofia Impressions dates from 1987 and is scored for string orchestra, one of a group of works Minkin wrote for that ensemble across four decades — a Serenata capricciosa for horn and strings of 1985, a Grand Concert Tango of 2013, a Jewish Poem for clarinet and strings of 2017. Minkin, born in 1959, trained as a composer in Sofia and has divided his output between concert music and scores for film and puppet theatre, the latter bringing him awards at festivals in Turin, Palermo, Bilbao, Beijing and Budapest.
