Crudele? Ah no, mio bene!... Non mi dir, bell'idol mio (Donna Anna) (Don Giovanni, K. 527)

Mozart’s Don Giovanni has been described by Rossini, Gounod and Wagner as the greatest of all works. From the moment of its creation, its success has remained extraordinary. The opera’s power lies in the way comedy, seduction, danger and metaphysical judgement coexist within a single dramatic world. Its characters may belong to theatre, yet their desires and contradictions feel disconcertingly real; Mozart’s music turns the legend into a drama at once entertaining, unsettling and inexhaustible.
