Like K. 37, 39 and 41, this is not an original concerto but an arrangement made in Salzburg in 1767, when Mozart was eleven: movements from keyboard sonatas by Leontzi Honauer, Johann Gottfried Eckard and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, fitted out with orchestral accompaniments. The manuscripts are partly in Leopold Mozart's hand, and the exercise was plainly a lesson in scoring rather than in invention. The four pastiches nevertheless entered the numbered series of piano concertos. 175, carries the number five.
