Moments musicaux, D. 780
- Composer
- Franz Schubert
- Opus
- D. 780
- Composed
- 1823
The six pieces of Moments musicaux were not conceived as a cycle. Two of them appeared separately in Viennese almanacs in 1823 and 1824, and only in 1828, the year of Schubert's death, did the publisher Leidesdorf gather all six as op. 94 under the misspelled French title Momens musicals. Each piece is short, in ternary form, and closer to the character piece Schumann and Chopin would later develop than to the sonata movements Schubert was writing at the same time. The third, in F minor, circulated for decades under the invented name Air russe.
