Албщат

Albstadt was formed in 1975 from nine communities, including Ebingen and Tailfingen. Set in the Swabian Alb, its surrounding landscape includes wooded slopes, limestone escarpments and juniper heath, explored by walking routes such as the Traufgänge.

The Maschenmuseum in Tailfingen traces the development of local textile production from domestic work to mechanised industry. Its displays include knitting machinery and clothing, documenting the importance of this trade to the area's history. The Kunstmuseum Albstadt concentrates on drawings and prints, including twentieth- and twenty-first-century work, and holds collections associated with Otto Dix and Christian Landenberger. These museums connect the city's industrial past with its artistic collections.
