Brookville, New York, is home to Long Island University's Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. The present concert hall was completed in 1981 on the site of an earlier campus theatre, the Dome, whose roof collapsed under accumulated snow in 1978 without causing injuries. Designed by Paul Broches and Mitchell Giurgola Architects, the replacement hall originally seated 2,250 people. It was named the Bush-Brown Concert Hall in 1985 and became the Tilles Center in 1987 following support from the Rose and Gilbert Tilles family. Its programmes encompass classical and popular music, jazz, dance and theatre, complemented by arts education for children and adults.
