Даун

Daun belongs to the volcanic landscape of the Eifel, with three nearby maars giving the town a close relationship to the region's crater lakes. Springs, including Dunaris and Hotzendrees, and a spa park add another element to this landscape of water. Paths connect the town with the surrounding countryside: the Maare-Mosel cycle route begins here, while the Eifelsteig and the Lieser route provide walking connections. Daun's character is best understood through this proximity between settlement and terrain. Lakes, springs and routes are accessible parts of its surroundings, each offering a different way to encounter the geological setting.
