Bühl’s Bürgerhaus Neuer Markt opened on 23 June 1989 on the site of the former wholesale fruit market. Designed by the architectural practice of Seebacher and Krauth, it combines a large performance space with smaller halls, a bright foyer and rooms for conferences and artists. Its name preserves the memory of the market that previously occupied the site. The municipal complex was conceived for both cultural events and civic gatherings, while an adjoining wing accommodated the music school.
