The hall at Podleśna 2 was the seat of the Białystok Philharmonic, whose orchestra had been founded in 1954 as the state symphony orchestra and moved in some twenty years later, on gaining philharmonic status. Between 2001 and 2002 the room was rebuilt: the acoustics were designed by Ewa Więckowska-Kosmala and the interior finished in natural oak. It takes 447 listeners, or 509 when extended. The institution became the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in 2005 and opened a new house on Odeska in 2012, keeping Podleśna as its concert hall.
