Fort Smith grew up on the Arkansas–Oklahoma line as a garrison and a river port, and its municipal auditorium was for generations the room where the city gathered — graduations, conventions, touring shows, the occasional legend passing through. The hall now forms part of the Fort Smith Convention Center and carries a sponsor's name, the ArcBest Performing Arts Center, seating 1,331 in theatre format. The Fort Smith Symphony plays its season there.
