Sevlievo's house of culture opened in 1989 and carries the name of Mara Belcheva, a poet born in the town. Its main auditorium seats 560; behind it are rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, two chamber halls and a large exhibition area hung with permanent shows by Bulgarian painters. The municipality runs it as the central address for the district's cultural life. It is the town's main room for visiting companies, so touring ensembles from Bulgaria and abroad appear there alongside the amateur groups that rehearse and perform in the building through the year.
