The glass building on and partly in the Weerwater, in the centre of Almere Stad, was designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA and opened by Queen Beatrix in 2007. It holds three halls — of 987, 331 and 147 seats — together with an exhibition space, and every external wall is glazed, so the water and the light come into the foyers. It carried the name Schouwburg Almere until a rebuilding in 2016, after which it became Kunstlinie Almere Flevoland and now simply Kunstlinie.
